The Baltimore Philharmonia Orchestra, Inc., founded in 1998, is a not-for-profit, community-based volunteer and semi-professional orchestra of accomplished musicians that incorporates performers of all ages to play the masterworks of the symphonic repertoire, to encourage the love of classical music, and to provide a series of regular concerts to the community at no cost.
Our musicians include, but are not limited to, performing artists, educators, and music students. Many of our members have played in major symphony orchestras, and have had many years of solo and orchestral experience.
The GOALS of our orchestra are to:
EDUCATE and further the love and enjoyment of classical music by making it more accessible to the Baltimore area communities through regular concerts at no cost.
PERFORM season public concerts annually, including outreach concerts in local Baltimore area schools, and special concerts funded by private individuals and organizations.
PROVIDE accomplished musicians with an opportunity to perform symphonic music.
The performing arts have been an integral part of society throughout the ages. Musicianship encourages teamwork, leadership, self-confidence and responsibility. By reaching out to the Baltimore community, we hope to encourage people of all ages to participate in an activity that is simultaneously exciting and educational. Music is the international language!
The Baltimore Philharmonia Orchestra, Inc. has been a valued cultural asset to the citizens of Baltimore for over 17 years, and has been granted permanent tax-exempt status-listed in the IRS 501(c)(3) category.
