Caitlin Croston

Caitlin Croston joined the Baltimore Philharmonia Orchestra in 2023 after moving to Baltimore, MD from Pittsburgh, PA for work as a human resources professional.

Caitlin began playing cello at age nine through her elementary school music program. In middle school, she started private lessons and auditioned into the Three Rivers Young People's Orchestra (TRYPO), a youth orchestra in Pittsburgh, PA. She spent 5 years with TRYPO and the highlight of her involvement was completing 10-day international summer tour across Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary. In her last season with TRYPO as a high school senior, she had the privilege of leading her section as principal cellist.

Throughout high school, Caitlin competed in several regional, district, and state orchestral competitions through the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA). She also spent several summers at the Chautauqua Institute in Chautauqua, NY, learning and performing full orchestra and chamber music with other young musicians. In 2019, she began her undergraduate studies at The University of Akron (UA) College of Business for Human Resources Management. While enrolled, she served as principal cellist of the UA Symphony Orchestra.

Caitlin's favorite full orchestra piece is Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, and her favorite chamber piece is Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence.
