Dr. Jonathan Goren
Jonathan Goren has studied with Wanchi Huang at James Madison University, where he earned a Bachelor and a Master of Music, in violin performance. He received his D.M.A. at Catholic University of America, studying with Jody Gatwood and Jose Queto. Jonathan has played classical music, as well as music in other styles, at different venues around town, for various performances. Performances include weddings, parties, concerts, musicals, religious services, and other events in the community. He has played solo, in a duo, with a small ensemble, and with a small orchestra. Locations for his performance events include Baltimore, Annapolis, and Washington, DC.
At JMU, Jonathan was awarded membership of Pi Kappa Lambda, Music Honor Society. Jonathan is passionate about music, he loves to play and teach, and he is always up for the opportunity to share his passion with other people and add joy and meaning to their lives. Jonathan has been concertmaster of Baltimore Philharmonia Orchestra since September 2019.
Jonathan has been teaching violin consistently since 2012. Prior to that, when he was a student at JMU, he also taught several students privately. The students ranged from retirees to JMU faculty and students to adolescents. He also taught violin in small groups and individual lessons at Baltimore Talent Education Center from 2010 until its closing in 2015. The students at BTEC ranged from pre- kindergarden through high school. Jonathan has also participated in some music festivals, including Brevard Music Center, Heifetz International Music Institute, BayView Music Festival, and he was a Teaching Fellow at Interlochen Arts Camp. Jonathan is currently teaching with Artist Music, Music and Arts, Bel Air Music Studios, Music Workshop, in his home studio, and online. Students are on all different levels of playing, working on various repertoire. Jonathan is also a member of the Baltimore Music Teachers Association.
